The Gränsfors American Felling Axe is a professional axe designed for those who want to work in the forest in the traditional way. Developed by Gränsfors in collaboration with axe collector Lawrence Lyford and boat builder Geoffrey Burke, this axe is ideal for felling very large trees, thanks to its long, broad edge of 11.5 cm.

This listing is for the 31" (79 cm) CURVED HANDLE version (MPN: 434-1) of the Gränsfors American Felling Axe. The axe is forged to a curved bit, making it suitable for cutting into fresh, resinous wood such as spruce or pine. The heavy head and long handle also give considerable power to the cut, making it almost twice as heavy as the Scandinavian Forest Axe (430).

The cutting edge of the Gränsfors American Felling Axe measures 4.5" (115 mm), with a head weight of 3.3 lb (1.5 kg) and a total weight with the handle of 5.3 lb (2.4 kg). The length of the axe with the handle is 31" (79 cm).

Gränsfors Bruk provides a 20-year guarantee on the axe head, and the axe comes with a full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather sheath and a copy of "The Axe Book" by Gransfors Bruks. Please note that in March 2017, Gransfors announced they would be abandoning the steel wedge on all their axes, with the exception of Splitting Axes for the time being.
