Leather Axe Handle Guard/Collar for Gransfors Bruk Double Bit Axe, Tan/Natural Leather

The Axe Handle Guard is designed specifically for the axe or hatchet that you select, with the purpose of protecting your axe handle from breakdown. Although it can save you from having to replace the handle, it is important to note that the guard itself will also eventually break down over time. Crafted from ⅛" thick veg-tanned cowhide and sealed with Neatsfoot oil, the Axe Handle Guard is available in two color options: brown or natural cowhide (with potential color variations from the photos).

The brown guard will show scratching more quickly than the tan variant. The size of the guard will vary depending on the axe you choose, with smaller axes generally requiring a smaller and shorter axe guard.

Fitting the Axe Handle Guard is a straightforward process. Each guard is custom-fitted and formed to the specific axe handle, ensuring an excellent fit if you have the same handle. If the fit is not perfect, you can moisten the guard and tighten it onto the axe handle. As the guard dries, it will take the shape of your axe and become perfectly formed to it.

The leather guard will have pre-made holes for the included 2 ½ foot length of leather lace. This lace length is more than what is typically needed, making the lacing process much easier. Alternatively, you can use para-cord, shoe laces, or other lacing materials. When tightening the lace, it's important not to pull too hard, as the leather can tear.

If you have a sheath for your axe (from ROG or elsewhere) with a strap that loops around the back of the handle, you may need to slightly stretch the strap to accommodate the Axe Handle Guard. You can first try this without moistening the strap, but if that doesn't work, you can slightly moisten the strap and stretch it until it snaps into position, allowing it to dry in this new shape.

When ordering a holster for your axe, it's recommended to go up one size, unless you're already getting a size large holster.

The Axe Handle Guards are made-to-order, so please allow at least one week for production. This production time may decrease as we better gauge the demand for this product.
